Creative Days, How Long?
by Slidin Fast ini really don't know where the wt is on creative days now, they used to be 7000 years long but now seem to be un-named fudged "thousands of years".
this immediately starts to put the fossil record into a more sane place until you realise that adam ius still believed to be created in c4026 bce.. so we have fossil records going back almost unarguably into geological timescales, oil (from living things) miles below the surface of the earth.
coal (fossilised trees) also far below the surface of the earth but man 6000 years old aprox.. no wonder we aren't hearing much on the creative days.. s f.

They have a table at the local Walmart now
by life is to short inomg i just heard this morning that they have a table set up at the local walmart, so i had to drive by.
it is huge with two huge signs one spanish and one english of blown up pictures of some of the book covers like you can live forever and young people ask, etc with a card table in the middle and two very boarded looking people just sitting there.
this morning was the spanish congo's turn but the walmart is in my halls territory so the english speaking ones from my hall will man it on the english speaking times i guess.

Quite right, Blondie. Of course, once you sign on as elder, attendance at these indoctrination session is part of the baggage.

If you like EGGPLANT, what is your favorite recipe?
by Nathan Natas ini could think of no more pressing question to raise at this time.. remember: the fate of millions may rest in your hands!.

two ways...... the simplest is to thinly slice the eggplants lengthwise, brush with an olive oil-vinegar mixture seasoned with a bit of cayenne pepper, and grill. The second is "parmigiana", i.e. sliced thin, sauteed either breaded or plain, layered with mozzarella and/or thin provolone cheese slices, all in a baking dish and dressed with simple tomatoe sauce (either between layers or just on top), and baked for about a half hour.

More Society cutbacks - Society says "screw you" to the publishers yet again
by sir82 inat our service meeting it was announced that there is a change in the manner in which magazines are now to be delivered to the congregations.. up until now, magazines were sent to each kingdom hall via ups.
in years past magazines were sent to each congregation po's home address via ups.. going forward, magazines will be sent only as far as the assembly hall.
it is the responsibility of each kingdom hall to send brother(s) twice a month to drive out there, pick up the magazines, and return.. this of course saves a little bit of money for the society - shipping larger packages to fewer addresses will cost less.. however, what about the expense to the local congregations?.

...maybe it's worth it to him/her to make the trip to avoid Saturday service, and maybe they'll let him/her count the time!

End of Pioneer Assist - real reasons?
by freddo ini reckon that the sentence at the start of paragraph two of the letter to elders that says "in view of the good results and for other practical reasons, it is now felt that the pioneer assist others program has accomplished its purpose.
" (italics mine) is legal cya because if a pioneer goofs up and injures (while driving?
) or molests an assistee then there is a direct link to the wts because a pioneer is society appointed.. follow the dollars ....

I think the answer is that most pioneers aren't interested in saving or helping anyone but themselves, and don't want to be bogged down in their frantic race to save themselves by amassing hours and spiritual "brownie points" by having "weaker" dubs drag them down.

Captives of a Concept
by dgp ini'm reading "captives of a concept", by don cameron.
cameron holds that the one thing that keeps jehovah's witnesses prisoners in the watchtower is the idea that they are in "god's organization", and, therefore, the right thing to do, in spite of what one sees, is to stay within it.
cameron also says that those jehovah's witnesses who become convinced that the watchtower is not god's organization eventually leave.

I believe Barbara Anderson said that at one point when she was in Bethel, Karl Adams sent her on a research quest to locate any groups within this 1800-or-so year period which met the following criteria: (1) were Arians (non-Trinitarian); (2) believed in soul sleep; (3) believed in a future earthly realm of the kingdom (4) rejected Hellfire... don't recall whether he was looking for groups or individuals giving also prominence to Gods' name as YAHWEH or Jehovah. Interesting, the great scientific genius Isaak Newton met many, if not most of these criteria.

For Perry: There was no global flood, so stop looking for Noah's Ark
by BurnTheShips inforget about noahs ark; there was no worldwide flood.
many people have contacted me about the recent claims by a group called noahs ark ministries international.1 the evangelical organization claims to have discovered noahs ark.2 i have responded on several occasions to these dubious claims on my blog.3 and still, this group has stood behind their claim,4 insisting that what they have found is real based largely on the belief that because the bible says the flood and the ark are historical, it must be so.
so, instead of addressing their spurious claims yet again, i thought i would approach the issue from a different angle: forget about noahs ark; there was no world-wide flood.. the worldwide flood described in genesis 6-9 is not historical, but rather a combination of at least two flood stories, both of which descended from earlier mesopotamian flood narratives.

Perry, how does one reconcile the logistical impossibility of including -- and caring for -- literally all terrestrial animate life forms on the ark?
